Deliciously Different: Ultimate Chicken Lasagna Recipe

Chicken lasagna is a delectable twist on the classic Italian dish, replacing traditional beef with tender chicken for a lighter yet equally flavorful alternative. Layers of lasagna noodles are generously smothered in a creamy béchamel sauce, interspersed with a savory blend of shredded chicken, and a medley of cheeses. Baked to golden perfection, this hearty and satisfying chicken lasagna offers a delightful fusion of comforting flavors that will surely please any palate.

Ingredients:Chicken Filling

  • Olive Oil – 02 tbsp
  • Large Onion – 01
  • Carrots – 02
  • Celery Sticks – 02
  • Garlic Cloves – 03
  • Minced Chicken – 500g
  • Tomato Puree – 750g
  • Tomato Paste – 50g
  • Sugar – 03 tsp
  • Oregano – 01 tsp
  • Fresh Basil Leaves – 4-5
  • White Wine / Chicken Stock / Water – 200ml
  • Salt as per taste
  • Black pepper as per taste

Ingredients: Bechamel Sauce

  • Unsalted Butter – 60g
  • All-purpose Flour – 40g
  • Fresh Milk – 560ml
  • Nutmeg – ½ tsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Black Pepper as per taste

Ingredients: For Assembling

  • Mozzarella Cheese – 200g
  • Lasagna Sheets – 9-12

How to cook:

  • To make chicken filling first, chop onions, celery, carrot, garlic cloves and basil leaves.
  • Heat oil in a pan and cook carrot, celery, onion, and garlic under medium heat until softened.
  • Add minced chicken and cook until color changes. If you want to change this lasagna into a different flavor, you can get any meat you want.
  • Then add tomato paste and puree.
  • After that add chicken stock, sugar, oregano, chopped basil leaves, salt and pepper as per your taste. Cover the pan and simmer this for about one to one and half hours.
  • When the chicken filling is ready, we can start making béchamel sauce. For that, first melt butter in a pan
  • Once butter is well melted, add flour and stir about one minute until smooth.
  • Turn off the flame and gradually stir in milk until mixture becomes smooth.
  • Then again turn on the flame and stir this continuously until the sauce boils and begins to thicken.
  • Once the sauce is ready, add nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  • Final stage is assembling the lasagna. For this we need 8” x 12” lasagna dish. It’s better to brush the dish with some olive oil or melted butter.
  • Add a chicken layer to the bottom of the dish. Then add a sauce layer and cover it with cheese. Keep lasagna sheets on top. Likewise, continue making layers.
  • To the top layer, put chicken and sauce and cover it with lots of cheese.
  • Before baking, cover the dish with an aluminum foil and make sure it doesn’t touch cheese. After covering, bake the lasagna around 25mins under 180C in a pre-heated oven.
  • After 25 mins, take off the foil and bake another 25 mins.
  • Once the lasagna is ready, set it aside for 15 mins before serving.
  • After 15 mins, you can decorate this with some basil leaves and enjoy
