Boston Cream Pie Recipe
Boston Cream Pie is a very tasty cake with a pastry cream filling. Parker House Hotel, Boston was the first one to make this cake. Hence it got the name Boston Cream Pie. Now this cake is very popular around the world.
Ingredients:Sponge Cake
- All-purpose Flour – 190g
- Baking Powder – 01 tsp
- Salt – ¼ tsp
- Unsalted Butter – 120g
- Sugar – 150g
- Large Eggs – 03
- Vanilla – 01 tsp
- Fresh Milk – 120ml
Ingredients:Pastry Cream
- Fresh Milk – 360ml
- Salt – ¼ tsp
- Large Egg Yolks – 02
- Sugar – 50g
- Corn Flour – 25g
- Flour – 01 tbsp
- Vanilla – 01 tsp
- Unsalted Butter – 15g
Ingredients:Chocolate Ganache
- Chocolate – 100g
- Whipping Cream – 50g
Method:
- To make the pastry cream, mix egg yolks, sugar, and salt until creamy and pale in color. Then add corn flour and flour into this and mix. After that add around 60ml of milk and mix.
- Heat rest of the milk and bring to simmer. Pour egg flour mixture into this milk and mix well. Then heat this mixture under low heat until thick.
- After that get the pastry cream out of the stove and add vanilla and butter. Transfer this pastry cream into a separate bowl, cover and keep aside. You can make this cream earlier and keep in the fridge until use.
- To make the cake, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time to this butter mixture and beat more. After that add vanilla.
- Combine flour, salt, and baking powder together. Gradually add this flour mixture to the butter mixture. When flour combined well with margarine add milk.
- Pour the cake batter into a baking pan and then bake this cake around 35-40 mins under 180C in a pre-heated oven.
- After baking let the cake cool down and then divide the cake horizontally from the middle into two parts.
- Spread prepared pastry cream in the middle of the cake and cover it with the other part of the cake.
- To make the chocolate ganache, heat whipping cream a bit on low heat and melt chocolate in it.
- Then pour this chocolate ganache over the cake.
- Let the cake set and enjoy.
